Daron Sutton was named the television play-by-play voice of the Arizona Diamondbacks on November 1, 2006.
Prior to arriving in the valley, Sutton, 37, spent five years in the same capacity with the Milwaukee Brewers. During his tenure, he won an Emmy Award in 2003 in the category of Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence on Camera from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. He was also nominated for a Regional Emmy in 1999, 2004 and 2006.
He spent the 2000 and 2001 seasons as a radio play-by-play announcer for the Anaheim Angels. With the Angels, he also hosted pre-game programming and a post-game call-in show.
As a member of the Atlanta Braves broadcast team on FSN South in 1998-99, he served in a play-by-play capacity, while also hosting the Braves pre-game show. He also handled Southeastern Conference collegiate athletic telecasts for FSN in men's and women's basketball, swimming and diving, gymnastics, track and field and volleyball.
Sutton began his broadcasting career as a tape editor in 1993 for the CNN Airport Network before moving to anchor for CNN Sports in December of 1994.
A Minor League pitcher, Sutton spent 1992 with the Boise Hawks, a Class A affiliate of the Angels, and part of 1993 in the Braves organization. Sutton graduated from Auburn University-Montgomery in 1992 with a degree in Communications.
Sutton’s father, Don, tallied 324 Major League victories and is a member of Baseball's Hall of Fame. Daron and his wife Kristin have two daughters, Abbey and Lilly.
